Goodbye to 2017!

“I aspire to be present in every moment. To create without fear. To love unconditionally.” – unknown

Hello 2018! What a whirlwind year 2017 has been and while we sit and reflect on last year and look forward to what this next year has to come, we want to take a moment and thank you for your support and encouragement in the year we started this new adventure!

Whitney and I started Worthwrite Goods on May 17, 2017! I remember so clearly Whit and I meeting up in January last year talking about this idea she had of starting a shop together and what that would look like. It was a thought, a dream, an idea, a business plan then something that may or may not ever happen. Months later, we revisited the idea.

We had clarity and a place to start and with little time to over-think, we said “let’s do it!”.
Now for a name… both our families met up over dinner and started talking names. It was like naming a baby, haha, we really struggled to come up with something that was right. We talked for hours and had nothing, so we decided to stop and let it all marinate some more. Whitney and I met up the following week at a coffee shop in San Antonio (with no babies, mind you!) and we were determined. We started talking about what we want our business to be, why are we doing it, what is the purpose. Then started writing down words that described what we were saying… and just like that, after several failed attempts, Whitney casually says “what about Worthwrite Goods”?! I thought about it and liked it… A LOT! I remember smiling at Whit saying “I think we have our name!!!” and we agreed, Worthwrite Goods it would be!

Our little shop started as an online business selling our Wood Scripted Cake Toppers! (The photo above is the first cake topper we ever created for Whitney's baby shower!) We immediately had the honor of our first wholesale order at Bird Bakery San Antonio and Dallas. From there, we started perfecting the materials we used and enhancing our packaging and working on more product creation. Within a few months of opening, one of our first goals came to life – we were invited to take part in the vendor fair at Magnolia Market – Silobration! We were elated. Preparations for this took over our life (also the lovely Hurricane Harvey that hit our families hometown of Rockport Texas!). Through this crazy time, we added the beautiful Beeswax Birthday Candles and Wood Star Garland to our product line! Silobration was amazing and gave us a new family of people to meet and enjoy greatly. We also got to meet Joanna Gaines and well… we would be lying if we said we weren’t jumping up and down with excitement!

After the rush of this event settled, we started getting more wholesale orders and are now in 6 retail stores across Texas and in Oklahoma! We then started working on our next product, which is so personal to us, our Hand Illustrated Maps of San Antonio! With only a limited release, we have been so pleased with the response to our maps!

Whitney and I are thankful for all the opportunity we have been blessed with in this first pioneering year of our business! And we so look forward to all that 2018 will hold! We pray often over our business that God would give us wisdom and direction to lead Worthwrite Goods well. We are elated with the support you all have given us and look forward to sharing our new ideas with you in the future!

Happy New Year!
